Experience 18th-century life<\/strong> through costumed interpreters, hands-on activities, and military demonstrations. Aspects of colonial American life will be available for you to experience – agriculture, blacksmith, education, games, gunsmith, military, and much more. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

1777 – Colonial Location – Saratoga, New York<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
\n

British General John Burgoyne, in an attempt to cut New England off from the rest of the colonies, has begun invading from Canada with his 7,000 troops. Having already captured Fort Ticonderoga, the troops make their way South to New York. On September 19, 1777, they will meet a force of 9,000 continentals under the command of General Horatio Gates at Freeman’s Farm, just 9 miles outside of Saratoga. <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n

18th-Century Military Demonstration – twice daily<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Both Continental and British troops will demonstrate 18th-century military maneuvers. Though similar, you will learn the differences between the two opposing forces. This will be introduced by a rousing fife and drum march and a booming artillery demonstration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Medical Demonstration – Immediately after each battle<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Stop at the surgeon tent to learn about 18th-century medicine. Several surgical techniques will be demonstrated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Candle Dipping – All day<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Made from beeswax and beef tallow. Come and dip your own candle to light the way before the shorter nights of winter arrive. $3 each (paid at registration tent).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cider Press – All day<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Cider was one of the most common beverages of the colonies. Come try the press and then drink some of the fruits of your labor (apple harvest permitting)<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We offer optional hands-on crafts to make something special to take home. Space is limited and pre-registration<\/a> is recommended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We require each family to fill out a Liability Waiver<\/a>. Save time, and print at home. Print each guest’s name, and have each adult sign. Children under 18 are not required to sign, so long as a parent or guardian has signed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
